LEGO has officially revealed 40912 Sea Serpent — a 241-piece Castle-themed gift-with-purchase that revives the Black Knights fleet, arriving at LEGO stores from 7 July 2026. It's a modern remake of the 1992 classic 6057 Sea Serpent, and it started life as a fan design.

The set at a glance
- Set: LEGO 40912 Sea Serpent (gift-with-purchase)

- Size: about 20 cm long and 16 cm tall
- Availability: free with a qualifying LEGO purchase from 7 July 2026 (spend threshold to be confirmed by LEGO)

A Black Knights revival
The original 6057 Sea Serpent launched in 1992 as part of LEGO Castle's Black Knights faction — a menacing black longship with a serpent-head prow, instantly recognisable to anyone who grew up with early-90s LEGO. The Black Knights, with their black hulls and shield heraldry, are one of the most fondly remembered Castle sub-themes, so bringing their flagship back is a direct hit of nostalgia.

From a fan submission to an official set
40912 began as a LEGO Ideas entry that won the "A Twist of Nostalgia" challenge, submitted by builder HallowedBrick02. LEGO's designers reworked the winning concept for production — most notably swapping the fan version's brick-built sail for a fabric sail, echoing the cloth sail of the 1992 original.

The modern touches
The remake keeps the silhouette but upgrades the detailing. The standout is the minifigure kit: the Black Knights' heraldry is now printed onto Legend of Zelda shield elements — a clever crossover part that gives the classic crest a fresh, sharper look while nodding to the faction's shield-and-crest identity.

For comparison, here's the 1992 original that started it all:

How to get it — and what to watch
As a gift-with-purchase, 40912 isn't sold on its own: you'll need to spend over LEGO's qualifying threshold (not yet announced) during the promo window from 7 July 2026, while stocks last. GWPs like this are limited and often become sought-after on the aftermarket once the promo ends.
