LEGO has announced 40859 Golden Age Superman and Batman Figures, a BrickHeadz two-pack drawing on the characters' late-1930s and 1940s comic designs. It uses 218 pieces, costs $24.99, and releases 1 September 2026.

Why "Golden Age"
The Golden Age of comics runs from Superman's debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938 through the mid-1950s. The costumes from that period differ noticeably from modern versions: flatter, more saturated colour and simpler linework.
Both characters have appeared in BrickHeadz before, but this is the first time they've been done together in their period designs. Superman gets the early red-and-blue palette and the original chest emblem; Batman wears the blue-and-grey suit with the yellow belt and the early bat symbol.
Two hidden extras
Each figure conceals something:
- Superman has a green Kryptonite brick inside — his defining weakness.
- Batman contains a commemorative gold coin marking 20 years of LEGO DC Batman, part of a series of anniversary coins appearing across several 2026 sets.
Easter eggs of this kind are usually a signal that LEGO expects the set to be bought by collectors who already own the earlier BrickHeadz versions.
Value per brick
At the announced US price:
- $24.99 ÷ 218 = 11.5 cents per piece
Typical for BrickHeadz, and slightly above 40919 in the same wave simply because it uses twelve fewer pieces at the same price. Piece economy isn't the reason to buy this line.
European pricing outlook
Only a US price has been announced. A $24.99 set generally maps to a euro RRP around €25–30, so expect something in that band — an expectation, not a confirmed figure. Exact euro and per-country pricing will follow when European retailers list it.
