LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong Arcade (72051) — 1,367 Pieces for the Game's 45th Anniversary

LEGO has revealed 72051 Donkey Kong Arcade, a 1,367-piece Super Mario display build landing 1 August 2026 at a US RRP of $199.99 — timed to the arcade classic's 45th anniversary.

Why Donkey Kong matters

Nintendo's Donkey Kong hit arcades in 1981. Designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, it put players in control of "Jumpman" — the character who would become Mario — leaping barrels and climbing ladders to rescue Pauline from the ape at the top. It effectively defined the platform genre and gave gaming its most famous mascot, which makes a brick version at the 45-year mark about as fitting as tributes get.

What you build

Notably, LEGO hasn't replicated the 1981 full-height upright cabinet. Instead the set is a tabletop arcade cabinet, blue-bodied with a red face and a large Donkey Kong logo across the top. The front recreates the game's iconic screen in pixel-art printing: pink platforms, turquoise ladders, rolling barrels, and Donkey Kong, Jumpman and Pauline in place — right down to the original "HELP!" text.

This is LEGO's second large display arcade cabinet after 10323 PAC-MAN Arcade, and leans on interactive functions as its headline draw.
