What just happened at Amazon.de. We first logged €117.64 there on 7 August 2026. On 3 October the price went to €148.45 — still 26% below RRP, but no longer the cheapest offer. That leaves Amazon.nl and bol level at €139.99, after cuts of €9.01 (28 September) and €14.81 (21 September).
Amazon's prices on this set move more than anyone else's: Amazon.de has been both the cheapest shop we have seen and, today, only the fifth cheapest. If you are waiting for a better price, Amazon.de is the listing to watch.
Is it retired?
No — whatever some price trackers say. LEGO.com has it in stock in all twelve storefronts we follow, at full price, and 26 third-party shops still carry it. A set that is genuinely on its way out loses shops month by month; this one has not.
It is, however, in its third year. LEGO Art sets do not stay in the range forever, and the best discounts usually come before a set leaves, not after — once official stock runs out the cheap listings are the first to go. For a set this age, 30% off from two large shops is a reasonable moment to buy.

LEGO Art sets are built largely from very small elements, so they always look cheap per piece next to the rest of the catalogue — compare them with each other. Milky Way and Monet are the same price today for almost the same number of pieces; the choice between them is about what you want on the wall.

What you build
The finished artwork is 40 cm high, 65 cm wide and 5 cm deep, with a hanger element for wall mounting. It is not a flat mosaic: the spiral arms are built up in layers, which gives the galaxy real depth.
It is built on five separate panels, each with its own instruction booklet. That is the practical reason to pick this one over the other large Art sets — a group can build it together, one panel each, and join them at the end.

Several real objects are marked in the model: Trappist-1, the Pleiades, the Crab Nebula and the Pillars of Creation. There is also a small "You are here" tile showing where the Earth sits. A QR code in the booklets links to a soundtrack about the galaxy to listen to while you build.
